A call centre in Birmingham contracted with Focus to deliver NVQ in Customer Service to most of the front line call centre staff. Due to the demands placed on the business and staffing levels required to maintain the service levels of the company the training and assessments were conducted to provided minimum disruption. This resulted in the assessor arriving on site at 6am on a weekly basis, conducting the assessments during work activities and training when the relief shift arrived. The programme achieved a 100% pass rate and was delivered to suit the needs of the customer.

A busy engineering company in Leicester required a Business Improvement Techniques programme to be delivered to the workforce but due to the high work-loads in the factory the training and assessment were required to be undertaken before the group commenced their shift work. The result was that the trainer was on site to commence training at 7.30am and delivered training to a multi-lingual work force with a 100% successful completion rate.

A busy publishing company required an IT programme delivering to 24 members of the team but had no way of releasing them from their desks for prolonged periods of time but required specific training needs to be covered to enable them to work more effectively. They had deadline pressures so the training, coaching and assessment had to be delivered in such a way so as to minimise any disruption to the deadlines, delivered within a set timescale and achieve a maximum pass rate. We did it, designed a bespoke programme, delivered it, assessed it and achieved 100% completion.

Glossary of Terms

In the training and development world we use various terms and odd names for things often referred to as ‘jargon’. This is a list of those odd things and what they mean. You will have arrived here by clicking on one of these odd words or phrases and this is where you find out their meaning.

In House Course

A course that is provided for just one company or individual customer. The benefits of an ‘in house’ course is that it can cover precisely the content that is relevant to your organisation or company. It can also be structured to suite your exact needs as some organisations require training delivered in a very precise way.

Open Course

As the name implies it is open to anyone who wants to attend much like a college course in that it will be at a set time and duration for example every third Tuesday for six weeks. The advantages of this sort of course is that if you are working for a company that doesn’t invest in training and you want to gain professional qualification to get a better job this sort of course for you.

Venue

A venue is any accommodation where we deliver a training programme. It can be a village hall, a full blown conference centre or a works canteen! We can deliver training just about anywhere. Some of our more odd locations over the years are a marquee, the stage of a theatre, a medieval grade one listed barn, a bus but to name a few. We always risk assess all the venues we use and make sure however odd that they are fit for purpose and that the will enhance the quality of the learning.
